It's a great time to match fish in Ireland!

Ireland Travel Plus specialise in bringing anglers from the UK and Europe to compete in the many splendid angling matches and festivals that take place across Ireland.  From the 'Big Ones', the World Pairs and Waterways Classic to the smaller festivals run by local clubs, there are matches to suit everyone.

The Irish match scene involves a calendar of festivals starting in March through to October and provides matches from 2 to 5 days during the summer months.  Generally five days in duration the angler gets the opportunity to fish different venues with the option to have a bad days’ fishing with time to make it up and take home some winnings!  All are renowned for the wild fishing amongst beautiful surroundings, along with the famous Irish hospitality and the craic!  From the larger international festivals to smaller club events they are open to the amateur and pro alike; everyone can compete and all have the opportunity to win.

Most matches are run on aggregate weight or point systems with daily section money.  Entry is not expensive and there are usually additional pools to bump up the prizes along with some sponsorship.  You’ll find yourself among fellow UK anglers, competitors from Germany, Holland and Belgium and, of course, the locals.

No longer do the 100lb nets of bream come along to snatch a prize, although they do show from time to time, but it’s the other silver fish that dominate these days… and there are plenty there.  All matches are open, you don’t need to qualify, and some allow you to turn up on the day and fish.  Watch out though, for some entries are limited.
