A gem in the Leitrim countryside! The Old Rectory Bed and Breakfast not only provides the traditional Irish family B&B hospitality loved by everyone but housed in the 18th centruy buildings we find, in our opinion, some of the best self catering apartments in Leitrim.
Home to the third generaltion of the Curran family, accommodation providers for over 30 years the Old Rectory and it's Court Yard buildings are to be found in a magnificent setting surrounded by mature trees overlooking Fenagh Lake.
There is plenty to do at the Old Rectory, whether you are enjoying the family hospitality at the B&B or the freedom of self catering. You can relax in the hot tub overlooking the lake and Abbey, paddle or canoe on the lake, take a cycle ride or sample a drink or two in one of the two village pubs. Fenagh Village is surrounded by heritage, your hosts are the holders of the key for the 6th Century Fenagh Abbey. The Fenagh Visitor Centre has a soft play area for children, local history information and a coffee shop.
The centre of lively Ballinamore and it's pubs, shops and restaurants are just a five minute drive away. Ballinamore hosts a lively annual family festival the second week of August with fun activities for all the family along with live music most evenings. There are also many attractions of natural and historical interest. Day cruisers are available for hire on the canal and the Kingfisher trail offers 5 routes in and around Ballinamore for beginners, families and seasoned cyclists. A 9 hole golf course set in parklands bordering the Ballyconnell-Ballinamore canal offers panoramic countryside views and welcomes visitors with play at €20 a day.
For the Angler
Not only is there the communal washing and drying room where you can air your wet clothes after a day's fishing but the barns provide somewhere to prepare your tackle in the dry along with cold bait storage.
With over 40 lakes within easy reach and the Shannon Erne Waterway close by there is plenty of angling for everyone. Fenagh Lake is on your doorstep and your hosts would love you to fish it and let them now what you find!
